M. Saifudin Hakim was born in Rembang, Central Java, Indonesia, on 22nd of February 1985. He was raised by his beloved parents and grew up together with his 2 brothers and 1 sister. In 2003, he completed high school (SMA Taruna Nusantara, Magelang) and started his medical school at Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta Indonesia (2003-2007). After two years of clinical internship (2007-2009), he obtained his medical degree in 2009. He obtained his master degree in the Research Master Program of Infection and Immunity, Erasmus Medical Center (EMC) Rotterdam, the Netherlands (2011-2013). At the moment, he is a PhD student at the Postgraduate School of Molecular Medicine, Erasmus Medical Center (EMC) Rotterdam, the Netherlands under supervision of Dr. Qiuwei Abdullah Pan. His PhD research focus on virus-drug-host interactions, especially hepatitis virus. Currently, he is an academic staff at the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Gadjah Mada Yogyakarta Indonesia
